Your Devotional message for 25th April 2021
Scripture:
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life, that both you and your descendants may live (Deuteronomy 30:19, NKJV).
Explanation:
During my University student life, we used to discuss and dispute the existence of demons and the concept of curses. Although, we could hardly debate on the aspect of the blessing. On my reflection, I thought that was a complete foolishness to doubt the existence of what has existed over thousand years back. As I grew up, the reality of understanding curses or the blessing becomes more apparent. Perhaps, you are reading this for the first time, you were like me in my early life, you are not alone. Read on as we delve into this subject. The subject of curses is very broad and can span across all areas of life, but in the brevity of time we will do an expose in relation to health and wellbeing. I will suggest also to start reading this topic of Divine Health and healings from day 1.
The word of the Lord in Deuteronomy 30:19 is still apparent in today’s life. God has set the choices before everyone of life and good, death and evil. I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life, that both you and your descendants may live (Deuteronomy 30:19, NKJV).The life and good things are part of the products of the blessing. Jesus Christ is the blessing to every generation.
For instance, this a blessing. As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labour—this is the gift of God (Ecclesiastes 5:19, NKJV). The blessing of the Lord is a gift of God. It is priceless. Death and evil will come automatically whenever the blessing is withdrawn by the Lord when we choose to walk in another way of the devil. Every man is given the free will to choose either life or death, blessing or cursing. This is the same free choice whether to choose blessing or cursing. The reality of curses is real today when you operate with the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to discern prudently of certain occurrences in the life of people and or a family. Why would a man who is wealthy with so much contacted a deadly disease his mid-life of 40’s to 60’s and died from such, despite seeking help with his money from the most experienced specialists, and the result is futility? The scripture gives us an explanation: A man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honour, so that he lacks nothing for himself of all he desires; yet God does not give him power to eat of it, but a foreigner consumes it. This is vanity, and it is an evil affliction (Ecclesiastes 6:2). Therefore, a curse is a kind of an evil affliction, caused by absence of the blessing of the Lord resulting in serious life consequences for example of failure and tragedy.
Curses can be personal, familiar, communal, geographical, or territorial, national, and generational. Why would a pattern of the same disease, ravage the lives of people in a particular family following the same pattern in their generation? Rarely, the judgement of God on a Territory or nation can bring a curse as in the case Bozrah in the scripture. For I have sworn by Myself,” says the Lord, “that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse. And all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.” (Jeremiah 49:13, NKJV). Therefore, causes can cause, delay, bad lock, failure, infirmity, instability, poverty, stagnancy, and misery. Therefore, it is so important to trace the curse to the spiritual root. The identification of the spiritual root is crucial to ask God for solution rather than seeking solution from evil means which will further add more to the issue.
There are factors to consider with regards to the power behind a curse:
The Law of sins and death – the Law empowers the actualization of a curse issued against the person inform of a spiritual punishment which will have physical manifestations. Following Adamic fall, God said to Adam that because he heeded to the voice of his wife and disobeyed “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life (Genesis 3:17,NKJV). ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “Cursed is the man who does not obey the words of this covenant (Jeremiah 11:3). Examples of such are in Deuteronomy 27:11-end. The Lord also said: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord (Jeremiah 17:5). For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them” (Galatians 3:10).
The Altars – the deity or the nature of demonic altar behind the curse and
The vessel invoking the curse – Curses are invoked through words and the gravity depends much on the person’s authority invoking the curses.
Through faith, The Power of Redemption in Christ Jesus has indeed provided access to the solution to curses upon a person or nation. You should bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse (Romans 12:14).
Let us now examine a number of these curses written in the book of the Law and their manifestations as sicknesses according to Deuteronomy 28: 15 -end.
“The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me” (Verse 20).
This would be interpreted as confusion to mean diseases like Dementia or cognitive disturbance resulting to confusion, and with shortened life expectancy.
The Lord will make the plague cling to you until He has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess (Verse 21). The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish (Verse 22).
This would represent consumption fever e.g., familiar fever, systemic inflammation or certain diseases caused by inflammatory , severe skin disorder with pruritus.
“The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them; and you shall become troublesome to all the kingdoms of the earth.
The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors, with the scab, and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed (Verse 27).
This would represent skin growth, tumors or cancers and severe pruritus.
The Lord will strike you with madness and blindness and confusion of heart (Verse 28).
This would represent schizophrenia, Blindness and Dementia.
So, you shall be driven mad because of the sight which your eyes see (Verse 34).
“If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD, then the Lord will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues—great and prolonged plagues—and serious and prolonged sicknesses. Moreover, He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. Also, every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed (Verse 58 -61).
The good news is that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” (Galatians 3:13).
If you are not born again, there is hope for you as you give your life to Christ. If you have received a dreadful doctor’s report, you need not be doomed, but be ready to pray, repent from any reason or sins that brought these curses to your life or family. You will need to pray fervently to break those curses. Seek the help of your pastor.
The blessing of the Lord is rapped up in His Word.
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians 3:13-14, NKJV).

Confession:
Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law, having become a curse for me. The blessing of Abraham has come upon me as the Gentile in Christ Jesus, that I might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
The word of God is in my mouth. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, it is piercing even to the division of my soul and spirit, and of my joints and marrow, and is a discerner of my thoughts and intents of the heart.
I prosper in all my ways and have good success daily, monthly and all years to the Glory of God in the name of Jesus. My body is healthy and strong. I refuse sickness, diseases, and evils of this world. I exercise my dominion over devil and the cohorts of darkness. From today I declare my victory and protection in the name of Jesus.
