Scripture:
And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” (Genesis 32:26).
Explanation:
In today Daily Meditation, day 27 of 31 days of the month of December, we will study and meditate on the scriptures relating to our topic ‘Arise and shine’.
In today’s Daily Meditation we will discuss and meditate on ‘Arise and shine’ – Bless me O Lord.
The blessing of the Lord is worth contending for in the new year. The blessing has the power to make you prosper. The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10:22).
The story of Jacob who wrestled with an Angel of the Lord. Jacob ran from his brother like a fugitive and also ran away with his wives from the house of his in-Law – Laban. Laban would have killed him, had God not intervened and warned Laban not to lay hand on him in a dream.
Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks. “But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob. “And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed.”
Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.” And He said, “Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there.
(Genesis 32:24-29).
