Scripture:
He was not that Light but was sent to bear witness of that Light (John 1:8).
Explanation:
In today Daily Meditation, day 26 of 31 days of the month of July we will study and meditate on the scriptures relating to our topic ‘The light of God’ – A witness to the Light.
John the Baptist came as a witness to the Light. He was regarded as the witness and Forerunner of Jesus Christ. He was not that Light but was sent to bear witness of that Light (John 1:8). This was the experience of many of Jesus’ disciples as in the Bible bearing witness to the Light.
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life (John 8:12).
Just like other Apostles, Paul was one of the witnesses:
For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth. Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed (Acts 13:47-48).
For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6).
Glory be to God.
May you receive an encounter with the light of God that brings forth transformation and restoration to issues caused by darkness in your life and you will be distinguished in life in the name of Jesus.
