Your Devotional Message for 21st November
Scripture:
So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting”(Mark 9:29).
Explanation:
Prayer is not just about only asking God to do something for you, but really it is more than that. It is one of the acts of fellowship with the Holy Spirit and communication with Divinity. Do you aspire the Higher spiritual life in Christ Jesus? Therefore, you must cultivate the lifestyle of prayer and fasting.
We will continue in our Daily Meditation today, day 21 of 30 days of our series called living ‘the Higher spiritual life in Christ Jesus’ in which we have been called. We will meditate on scriptures that pertain to the Power of Prayers and fasting.
We discuss that the lifestyle of prayers and mastering the principles of different prayers cannot be overemphasized when it comes to walking in the Great Power of God. We will now discuss the role of prayers and fasting with regards to power and authority for the Great works of God.
On one occasion, the disciples of Jesus Christ were faced with challenge of healing a child with a mute spirit from childhood who was brought by His disciples. The father of the child said to Jesus “And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not” (Mark 9:18). Jesus healed the child as he commanded the deaf and dumb spirit to come out of him. So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting”(Mark 9:29).
Jesus showed that this great works can be accomplished by prayer and fasting. Jesus would often spend hours to pray all night.
Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God (Luke 6:12).
To experience the higher manifestations of the life in Christ Jesus, for greater works, healings, deliverance, signs and wonder supernaturally you need to tap into a lifestyle of prayer and fasting as one of the sources of Power.
Examples of the scriptures on Prayer and fasting:
The use of Prayer and fasting transcended from the Old Testament. Examples are:
Nehemiah’s Prayer and fasting for the Jews (Nehemiah 1:1-11).
Fasting as the day for a man to afflict his soul. God instructs the Jews on the way and purpose of prayers and fasting for breakthroughs from evil and wickedness. “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to lose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? (Isaiah 58:6).

Prayers and fasting often may be required during intercessions and spiritual warfare:
We have previously discussed the spiritual warfare which also overlapped with Intercessions. Therefore, I exhort first that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. (1 Timothy 2:1-3, NKJV).
Cultivate the lifestyle of prayer and fasting if you desire the Higher spiritual life in Christ Jesus. Pray fervently that the schemes of the devil be destroyed, altars and evil spirits behind issues in your life to be arrested by Fire of God in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Today, let me challenge you that Jesus Christ has paid the price and wants you to be his disciple. If you are yet to receive Christ Jesus, do so today by repenting from all your sins and accept Him as Your Lord and saviour.

Faith Confession of the Month:
Our Father, thank you, for another day. I shall be glad and rejoice in You. Thank you for salvation, divine health, grace and glory, provision, protection, and supernatural ability at work in me. And I declare boldly that I am aglow and strong in the spirit, filled with wisdom of God; and the grace of God is upon me (Luke 2:40). The Holy Spirit is my Senior Partner. I operate in the Higher dimension of the spirit through the Word of God and the Power of the Holy Spirit. I have the glory of God. I declare that my spiritual ears, eyes, and other spiritual senses are exercised for His divine revelations.
It is written, “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in the demonstration of the Spirit and of power” (1 Corinthians 2:4). Behold, I receive the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt me (Luke 10:19). I operate with the great grace and Mighty Power of God for His great works – Healings, miracles, signs, and wonders. The word of God is in my mouth and as I meditate, it permeates to the deep part of my Spirit, soul, and body. I am manifesting the great power of God. I rule over Satan and his cohort of darkness with the Fire of the Holy Ghost. I prosper in my spirit, soul, and body. My life is flourishing in all areas of life as well as my health even as my soul prospers. Success, wealth, financial abundance and victory are mine in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Glory be to God!
