Then it happened, as they continued and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven (2 Kings 2:11)
Explanation:
In today Daily Meditation, day 21 of 30 days of the month of April we will study and meditate on the scriptures relating to our topic ‘Our God is a consuming fire’ – Where is the Lord God of Elijah?
For our God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29).
Elijah became known for the supernatural manifestation of the Fire of God. Elisha became the loyal son of the prophet who desired the mantle of Elijah and stood by his father at his departure, and he asked for a double portion of his spirit. The scripture reveals that ‘Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven’ (2 Kings 2:11).
At his departure with chariot of fire, he took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him and tore them into two pieces.
‘He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan. Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over’.
Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed to the ground before him (2 Kings 2:13-15).
May you receive the Fire of God that brings healings to your body, deliverance, and the prosperity of your soul so that you will be distinguished in life in the name of Jesus.
