Your Devotional message for 18th August 2022
Scripture:
Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord; Revive me according to Your judgements (Psalm 119:156).
Explanation:
In today’s Daily Meditation, day 18 of the 31 days of the month of July, we will study and meditate on the scriptures relating to our series ‘The exceedingly great promise of God’ – Revive me O Lord.
Today let us explore and meditate on another exceedingly great promise of God to His children or disciples – The cry for a revival. Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord; Revive me according to Your judgements (Psalm 119:156). The word revival means regeneration, comeback, awakening, restoration.
Revival can occur to a person, to a group of people or community or nation. Revival should start at the heart of man (Human spirit). A good example of reference to revival to a person is when Elijah revived the Widow’s son (1 Kings 17:17-24).
While Prophet Elijah was lodging at the Widow’s house, her son became critically unwell and gave up breath. Her words even showed that she thought the episode was caused by remembrance of her sins. Elijah requested her to bring her son. And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to the Lord and said, “O Lord my God, I pray, let this child’s soul come back to him.” Then the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived. (1 Kings 17:21–22). When the son was revived, Elijah returned him back. Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now by this I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is the truth.”
(1 Kings 17:24).
Here are a few of the other scriptures expounding on revival:
Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You? (Psalm 85:6).
For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem Ezra 9:9).
The Word of God shall visit your life with His revelation in the names of Jesus Christ.
Glory be to God.
Have you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour?
Today, let me encourage you that Jesus Christ came for your salvation and to give you freely Eternal life. If you are yet to receive Christ, do so today by repentance from all your sins and confess Jesus Christ as Your Lord and saviour.
Glory be to God!
We would love you to stay connected as we will study and meditate on ‘The Exceedingly great and precious promises of God’ throughout the month of August 2022.
