Explanation:
In today Daily Meditation, day 18 of 31 days of the month of December, we will study and meditate on the scriptures relating to our topic ‘The power and the glory of God’ – The Lord of Hosts.
We cannot talk about the power and the power of God without exploring His expression as the Lord of Host. The Lord and His Hosts of Heaven is the Lord of Hosts. This is inclusive of His angels. The Angels of the Lord are spirit being that carry the power and the Glory of the Lord. So, David went on and became great, and the Lord of hosts was with him (1 Chronicles 11:9).
Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt (1 Samuel 15:2)
Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied (1 Samuel 17:45).
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:13-14).
Then the Angel of the Lord answered and said, “O Lord of hosts, how long will You not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which You were angry these seventy years?” (Zechariah 1:12).
They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power (Psalm 145:11).
For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God (Deuteronomy 4:24).
