The impact of speaking in Tongues
The impact of speaking in Tongues

Your Devotional message for 19th April 2021

Scripture:
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4, NKJV).
Explanation:
Early years, while I was in the University as a student, though I was a believer, I had the believe that Praying in tongues was too extreme. I was very ignorant of the essence of this Spiritual exercise in the Life of a believer. Until one day, I attended the program of Pastor Rev Joe Olaiya’s Sorting Out Program in Swindon, UK in 2009. It was a very exciting seminar and a Life changing one to remember. He met me and said to me “Doctor, there is a difference between science and spiritual things. You must receive the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and prayed in Tongues”.
I quickly joined the queue where he was praying for the attendees to receive the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. He laid His hand upon me and said Receive Ye the Holy Ghost. I began after opening my mouth to speak in Tongues. He encouraged us to pray at least 15 minutes in our Hotel room before bedtime. I did 30 minutes and went to bed with a great effort as I have never done that before. At 1:00 am, I woke up from my sleep drench in sweat as if someone poured water on me, as I heard a loud noise Like an Eruption on my door, but there was no physical damage. I was trembling as I saw an Angel in my room. I heard a voice in the Spirit: You have had an Angelic visitation.
You see Praying in Tongues is not an option for a believer but a doorway to the Supernatural. It is the language of the Spirit. The first day of my Praying in Tongues was a beginning of my Spiritual encounters with Holy Ghost and Angels. This will usher you to a realm of Power and supernatural manifestations of Healings and Miracles of God.
In fact a number of scientific evidences has emerged. Such evidence using SPECT scan by Andrew Newberg has emerged that people speaking in tongues (glossolalia), while being scanned showed decreased cerebral blood flow activity in the prefrontal cortices beneficial for stress reduction, unlike people engaged in “attention-focusing tasks” like mindful meditation.
What are those important knowledge about praying in tongues? Let me share with you the practical knowledge that are indispensable here.
1.Speaking in Tongues is an instruction of Jesus Christ for the accompanying Signs: The Lord Jesus spoke to His Disciples after He appeared to them following His resurrection. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues. ; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:18, NKJV)

  1. Speaking in Tongues was part of the Physical manifestations of the Holy Spirit that came at the Day of Pentecost. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. (Acts 2:3, NKJV).
  2. Speaking in Tongues allows you to be filled with the Holy Ghost:
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4, NKJV). There is activation of the Power of God as you pray in tongues.
  3. Speaking in Tongues can be a wonder works of God. This was the experience of the Cretans and Arabs who witnessed the Apostles in Acts 2: 11 – “Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”
  4. A sign of receiving Baptism of the Holy Spirit: And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied (Act 19:6, NKJV).
  5. Speaking in Tongues is a way of speaking not to men but to God, however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. (1 Corinthians 14:2).
  6. Self-edification: He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church (1 Corinthians 14:4, NKJV).
  7. Building of your faith: Speaking in Tongues allow you to build your faith: But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit (Jude 1:20, NKJV).
In conclusion, to be enabled to pray in tongues you ought to receive Baptism of the Holy Spirit. However, you must be aware that there are demonic tongues as well. Just as Paul wrote: I wish you all would spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification (1 Corinthians 14:5, NKJV).
Stay tune as we shall continue further tomorrow. Remain uncommonly blessed.
    Confession:
The word of God is in my mouth. The Power of the Most-High is at work in me. I refused to be defeated. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, it is piercing even to the division of my soul and spirit, and of my joints and marrow, and is a discerner of my thoughts and intents of the heart.
I prosper in all my ways and have good success daily, monthly and all years to the Glory of God in the name of Jesus. My body is healthy and strong. I refuse sickness, diseases, and evils of this world. I exercise my dominion over devil and the cohorts of darkness. From today I declare my victory and protection in the name of Jesus.

Further Reading scriptures to meditate:

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.  For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries (1 Corinthians 14:1-2, NKJV).
